On November 5, the fourth edition of the CargoM Career Day was held. Close to 1,500 visitors converged on the Grand Quay of the Port of Montreal to discover what trades and training are offered in our sector. Made possible through a financial contribution from the Government of Quebec, the event brought together about sixty companies and educational institutions working in our industry.
On this day, launched by Ms. Chantal Rouleau, Minister for Transport and Minister Responsible for the Metropolis and the Montreal Region, more than 1,200 jobs were available and more than 1,000 applications were submitted on site.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all CargoM members who participated in our Career Day and who contributed, again this year, to its success. We would particularly like to acknowledge the contribution of the Maritime Employers Association, Camo-Route, CN, the Canadian Armed Forces, Groupe Lafrance and Groupe Robert, who made the event interactive with their trucks and simulators, which are always very popular with visitors at the event.
Several highlights enhanced our programming, such as the presentation on services offered to businesses by the Direction régionale de Services Québec de l’Île-de-Montréal, the short interview s organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal’s Interconnection Program, and the matching of students as part of Montreal International’s I choose Montréal initiative.
